Jhpiego Alumni Connection
Keeping babies warm and celebrating YOUR efforts.
Homemade hats are finding their way from knitters across the globe to babies in Africa in a gesture to save newborn lives. From Ethiopia to Rwanda to Tanzania, the 50,000 Happy Birthdays knitting campaign is not just about adorable fashion statements—these pint-sized hats play a practical role in keeping newborns warm, and they’re knit to recognize and encourage the efforts of nurses and midwives like YOU!

We know one of the best ways to ensure a safe, successful birth is to have a skilled health worker by mom’s side—one trained in Helping Mothers Survive. And we celebrate each and every “birthday” your efforts make possible.

Read more about this great program from our friends at Global Moms Challenge—and knit your own hat today!
